New to Calvary?

If you're new to Calvary, we want to ensure that your time with us is as enjoyable as it should be. You may have no questions at all about what to expect at church or you may have many. We've anticipated a few here and are happy to answer any others you may have. Please feel free to contact us using the form on the contact page if you do not find the information you are looking for, or if you would like to talk to someone.

What should I expect on a Sunday?

As you arrive at either entrance to the Calvary Church parking lot, please turn on your four way flashers to indicate you are visiting for the first time and you will be directed by one of our friendly parking hosts to special preferred parking close to the entrance. As you enter the church, one or two Calvary hosts will be available to greet you as you come in and will help you to find where to go. You will receive a Calvary Life Card with the latest monthly news from all around the church and a inside look at Calvary with more information about the church and it's many ministries.

Our Sunday morning worship experiences start at 9am and 11am, and when you arrive early be sure to stop by our Calvary Cafe in the main foyer for a hot cup of smooth roasted, premium Seattle's Best Coffee or tea to get your day started off right. We also have a 9:15am and 11am service completely in Mandarin.

Our worship is lively, but informal with an opportunity every week for you to receive prayer from one of our ministry team members. One of our pastors will share a message which is relevant, inspiring and creative as we are challenged to put God's Word into action within our lives and families. Our service typically runs for 70 min with an opportunity for you to give as another expression of worship. Feel free to stop by our Welcome Centre when you exit through the centre doors and take some time to inquire about our online church network called Calvary Connect which will help you stay up to date with all things Calvary, join our monthly Starting Point Class, sign up for a small group in your area, or pick up your free gift as a first time guest.

People sometimes ask what they should wear when coming to be part of church on a Sunday, and we usually say to come as you feel comfortable. Most people dress casually, however, with so many people from different backgrounds we have a wide range of styles and tastes.

What about my kids?

Our BIG Time Kid's Ministry is designed for children from 0 through grade 5.

We have a fully equipped and supervised Nursery facility which is suitable for children aged 0 - 24 months.

Our toddlers class is for age 2, and our Preschool (which operates as a licensed preschool Monday to Friday) covers ages 3-5.

Elementary school aged children are divided up into two groups:

Grades K-2 and 3-5

Prior to the service, parents have the opportunity to proceed to the Kid's Ministry Wing on the lower level to check in their kids at one of our touch screen computer terminals and you will be given a security tag for pick up after the service. A helpful BIG Time Kid's Ministry attendant will be closeby if you require assistance. (Nursery-Preschool children can also be checked in prior to the start of the service.)

From September through April kids grades K-5 can register to be a part of our mid-week programs. We have two mid-week programs designed for grade K-3 and grades 4-5. These programs run on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8pm.

I'm not sure I'm ready for church yet.

We understand that for some, church can be a bit of an unknown sometimes causing a certain measure of apprehension or even fear. Jesus lived the most amazing life, and His message is powerful, practical and revolutionary, yet this image of the church is not always well portrayed in the media today. Church for us is a getting together of people who are being changed day by day by following Jesus. We're far from perfect, completely individual and amazingly diverse. Sometimes life is messy, often chaotic, but as we journey together we find ourselves as part of a community of faith where we find encouragement, hope, strength and life. If you are on a journey towards faith, whatever stage you are at there is space for you to do that at your own pace here at Calvary.

I'd like someone to pray for me.

Again and again, we've found that God not only exists but meets us where we are as we come to Him. We've had the privilege of praying with thousands of people and seeing some amazing answers to prayer as God changes our situation. We'd love to pray with you if you would like us to. Please let us know by getting in touch with us or by coming along and responding during one of our Sunday morning prayer time opportunities that are given during the services.

How do I get there, and where do we park?

More information is available on the Contact Us page and a detailed map is provided. If you are a first time guest here at Calvary, please make sure you turn on your four way flashers when you enter the church parking lot. One of our helpful parking hosts will be happy to guide you to preferred parking close to the entrance. There is usually plenty of parking available on a Sunday morning in the lot that surrounds the church. Overflow parking is also available during special events or peak hours on the street and the front and rear of the church.

What else is going on during the week?

Beyond the many Calvary small groups that meet throughout the week there are also a number of different activities taking place during the week at Calvary and the details of many of these are available on our online church network called Calvary Connect. We are always open for new creative ideas, inspiration and people to help us to fulfil our mission. If you are not part of a church community already we'd like to invite you to join us on a Sunday or at any of our activities. You belong here!
