Dear Calvary Church Family,

It is true that in uncertain times there can be fear, anxiety, and hopelessness. But God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. So, when we look to Jesus in this storm, we will experience the certain peace which passes understanding because God is great, and well able to overcome it all. During these times, our commitment to care and minister to our church family, our city, and our world has never been stronger. Our Calvary Church ministry and care response includes three focused areas in a strategic approach with you and those in need in mind:

1. Locally | Along with caring for and ministering to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of our church family by developing Church Online every Sunday and Online Small Groups that now take place every night of the week, we have also been able to impact our community. Calvary's Outreach Service Teams continue to serve alongside Nightshift Street Ministries and other area churches to minister to the practical needs of our street friends in the Whalley area of Surrey, BC providing food service assistance to the homeless. Similarly, we are also working with the Emergency Response Center (ERC) in North Surrey, run by our friends at the Surrey Urban Mission and Fraser Health, providing clothing for the sick and homeless. Calvary Church also partners with the City Dream Center to help support the underprivileged and vulnerable who live in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with a number of other local area churches, Calvary is a committed participant of the Adopt-A-School program assisting with the needs of inner city public schools and the families they serve as well as needy seniors within our community.

2. Nationally | During these unprecedented times when churches have been asked to close their doors and quickly move to virtual gatherings, Calvary has been able to come alongside and assist many struggling churches in our city and across Canada in need of Online Ministry Content for their Kid's and Students. Our ministry team is committed to continuing to be a resource and to develop and produce the very best in ministry content to help strengthen the next generation. Visit and subscribe to our Calvary Church YouTube Channel for on demand content and all things Calvary. I am also excited to be involved representing our national network of churches - PHCC Ministries, in providing ongoing Leadership Coaching and Resources to help equip, train, and strengthen our Canadian pastors and their teams, as they effectively lead their church communities in this changing ministry landscape through such a season of crisis.

3. Internationally | We are honoured to be a part of such a healthy and respected World Missions Family around the globe through IPHC Ministries. Our full-time Calvary Church Missionaries (Bob and Carol Cave) are actively involved leading the ministry effort to assist with the needs of those facing very challenging times during this worldwide pandemic. Thanks to the generous support of our Calvary Church family, we have quickly organized and implemented our World Missions Response Plan assisting churches and their related rehab centre needs in Israel, Ukraine, and Bethlehem.

Join us this Sunday and invite your friends and family to one of our regularly scheduled service times (Main Campus Live - 9AM | 10:30AM | 12PM and Mandarin Campus Live at 9AM | 10:30AM) while we continue gathering for online church, in compliance with the city-wide large gathering ban that our BC Health officials put in place to help flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19. We love our church, our city, and our nation and we are praying for a solution to all we are facing together as we look forward to returning to a better day. Our Church Office remains open with temporarily modified hours (Mon. - Thurs., 12-4PM) to assist you and your family during this time. We would also encourage you to connect with your small group leaders if you have any practical needs that we can help with. If you're not part of an online small group and are interested, please contact the office or drop us an email at [email protected] and we would be happy to connect you.

I would like to thank our church family for your ongoing generosity and faithfulness in giving. Without you, our ministry locally, nationally, and internationally would not be possible. If you would like to give today to help strengthen our efforts, please visit calvary.ca/give or text the word "calvaryca" to the number 73256 on you mobile device. It's simple and safe.

We love you, we miss you, and we are praying for you daily. Have a great weekend and we look forward to being with you Sunday for Calvary Church Online.

God’s best,
Pastors Steve & Susan
