Mark Batten

Executive Team

Mark is the Pastor of Children's Ministries at Calvary Church. His heart for young families and children is worn on his sleeve. He has a deep calling to see children led to Jesus; and for families to grow closer to each other as they grow closer to God.

Calvary Church has been Mark's home church since 1997. Full-time ministry precedes that date, however, as Mark was a member of the performing and recording group Rhythm & News. R&N toured extensively throughout North America and South America with a focus on sharing the gospel with young people. 

After years of leading 'kidmin' at Calvary Church as a volunteer, Mark joined the staff in 2004 as the Kids Pastor. He developed programs, special events, and, of course, the Sunday morning services for kids. Teams of volunteers and leaders were raised up, and, most importantly, children and young families were discipled in life-impacting ways.

In 2020 Mark stepped down from his staff position at Calvary Church to pursue a role with ICR Canada. As Executive Director, Mark leads this organization by raising awareness and support for Christians around the world who live in countries hostile to the gospel.

Although not on Calvary Church staff, he remained very involved with Calvary Church's kids ministry, this time in a volunteer and support role.

While Mark has continued as the director of ICR Canada, he returned to Calvary Church's staff as Pastor of Children's Ministry in 2025.
    
Mark's wife, Becky is an educator at a Christian school and also has years of experience in church leadership using her gifts as a worship leader. They are blessed to have children who love the Lord. Some of the kids are still at home, some are grown and leaving the nest, and some already have families of their own.
