Mark Batten

Executive Team

Mark is the Pastor of Children's Ministries at Calvary Church. His heart for young families with children is worn on his sleeve. He has a deep calling to see children led to Jesus; and for families to grow closer to each other as they grow closer to God.

Calvary Church has been Mark's home church since 1997. However, full-time ministry precedes that date as Mark was a member of the performing and recording group, Rhythm & News. R&N toured extensively with a focus on sharing the gospel with young people. 

After years of leading 'kidmin' at Calvary Church as a volunteer, Mark joined the staff in 2004 as the Kids Pastor. He developed programs, special events, and, of course, the Sunday morning services for kids. Teams of volunteers and leaders were raised up, and, most importantly, children and young families were discipled in life-impacting ways.

In 2020 Mark stepped down from his staff position at Calvary Church to pursue a role with ICR Canada, an organization raising awareness and support for Christians around the world who live in countries hostile to the gospel. Throughout his years at ICR, Mark has remained very involved with Calvary Church's kids ministry, this time in a volunteer and support role.

Although Mark has continued as the Executive Director of ICR Canada, In 2025 he returned to Calvary Church's staff as Pastor of Children's Ministry.
    
Mark's wife, Becky is the director and head teacher at Calvary Church's own Fraser Glen Preschool. She also has years of experience in church leadership using her gifts as a worship leader. They are blessed to have children who love the Lord. Some are still at home, some are grown and soon to leave the nest, and some already have families of their own.
